Are Van Halen and G & R going to Tour together?
According to a report by industry website Hits Daily Double, Guns N' Roses and Van Halen are rumored to be teaming up for a summer stadium tour. No further details are available, but RollingStone.com reported last week as well that Guns N' Roses was mapping out a stadium trek for this summer. Both Guns and Van Halen are managed by Irving Azoff, which would also make the potential pairing more plausible as well. Azoff hinted to RollingStone.com, "We have some exciting things in the works this year for G N' R, I'm looking forward to it."
- A summer trek would mark the first time that a band using the name Guns N' Roses would play U.S. stadiums since the original lineup's troubled 1993 co-headlining stint with Metallica. The current version of Guns, whose only original member is singer Axl Rose, did an arena run in 2006 and 2007 that included a few stadium stops in Europe.
- Van Halen staged a massively successful reunion tour with original vocalist David Lee Roth in 2007 and 2008. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen has said in several recent interviews that he is waiting for his son's graduation and for his own wedding later this spring before getting back to work.
SIDE NOTES
- We were wondering just the other day if a Guns N' Roses tour minus most of the original members could actually fill stadium. What do you think now? Could this match-up draw 50,000 fans a night?
- Off the record and in other tour news, we keep hearing that the Creed reunion is going forward this summer as well. It's going to a busy season, folks.
