Ministry Paves the Peace
Millions of dollars are being spent on road improvements in the Fort St. John area. Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon made a stop in the Peace Region Wenesday to announce $43.9 million for upgrades in the Peace. Among the projects, the government has listed paving on Airport Road, and Montney Highway, as priority. Falcon says the work will benefit residents and industry throughout the Peace region, and will protect, and upgrade roadways that will support increased activity by oil and gas companies in their exploration, drilling, and production. The province has also kicked in 206 thousand dollars for a new handy dart bus. The target date of completion for the projects is 2009. Another round of funding announcements are expected Thursday in Dawson Creek.
