Fort Nelsonites Vote

Are you in Favour of the Northern Rockies Regional District Fort Nelson Arena Loan that authorizes borrowing up to 8 million dollars to pay for the construction of the Fort Nelson Arena secondary ice surface in Fort Nelson ? That was the question voters had to answer Saturday as the town of Fort Nelson held their referendum regarding how to pay for the secondary ice surface. While it was a close vote, the yes side prevailed with 343 of the 645 votes. Fort Nelson Mayor Chris Morey says shes not surprised with which direction the vote went. Morey adds that now that the community is behind the secondary ice surface, they can begin phase two of the project. Morey expects that more discussion will take place on Thursday at the town's next council meeting.
