August 3rd - Ted Nugent

Confrontation is something everyone in the public eye has to face at one point or another, and rock stars are no exception. Whether it comes from record company executives, over enthusiastic fans, or an angry mob of protestors who want your head on a stake. That last one may sound extreme, but it’s exactly what Ted Nugent faced on August 3rd, 1997. An avid outdoor enthusiast, the Nuge often attends hunting trade shows, and in fact hosts his own tv show based on his hunting exploits. While at a hunting show in Houston Texas, an angry mob of animal rights activists approached Ted and berated him for his involvement in what they declared to be barbaric behaviour. It wouldn't be the last time these two opposing sides butted heads, likely due to Nugent's in your face tactic of boldly taking things to the extreme. In fact, he once remarked, ‘"I'm stymied to come up with anything funnier than people who think animals have rights. Just stick an arrow through their lungs’. If he was looking to start a fight, those were the right words to choose.
